What Kyoto Reminded Me About “Ki” The Invisible Force Behind Japanese Life

京都で改めて感じた日本人の「気」~久しぶりの京都旅行で気づいたこと~
Have you ever noticed how often Japanese people use the word “ki”?

In this episode, I share a recent trip to Kyoto and talk about the many expressions that use 「気」 in Japanese.

The trip included lunch at one of my favorite traditional restaurants, a visit to a pastry shop near Shimogamo Shrine, and a walk through the lively Nishiki Market.

Along the way, I found myself using many different expressions with 「気」 without even realizing it.

What do expressions like 気を許す, 気が急る, 気が晴れる, and 気が抜ける tell us about Japanese culture?

And why do Japanese people use 「気」 so often?

Listen to the episode to find out.
